You have intense light in between intense dark, like he's riding on a sea of lava. Impressive sense of deep fire within. He and the bow make a strong 'break' through all those horizontals. (That is the "bow" right? the front of a boat?) A very effective image. The clouds up ahead remind me of that old film "The Ten Commandments"---not because of its writing (which was gaggingly self-important), but it's dazzling painterly visuals. Something big happening in those clouds up ahead...
