Description
I've been wanting to add older faces to the mix for a while, but none of the aging morphs looked right. Well, I finally found one that seems to work. However, this composition did not come out the way I wanted regardless. In hindsight, I think just leaving negative dark space to the right would have been better. They are both Jack, one an older Jack, and one his younger self. I wanted the younger Jack to be faded out, as if he were only a fading memory of days gone by, but Photoshop layers was just not cooperating. I'll have to do several like this until I get the scene I want.
Well, there is that, not every image hits that elusive magical level. For all those new folks that have been dropping by, thanks for looking. Me doing visual arts isn't exactly what I do. I'm a writer, not a visual artist. I usually only do visual art when I'm between stories and thinking about plot arcs and such. But, like so many other writers, 2020 was so toxic, literature suffered for it. However, I will make a prediction. Really good art and writing always suffers and stumbles during a tragedy. It isn't until after when people have had a moment to process the emotions of what happened that art returns. I predict a several year renaissance of art will begin towards the end of this year, but it won't be fluffy bunnies and unicorns. I think we will see a darker art emerge to portray the horrors of the last year.

The lighting in this is excellent, too. This whole series has fabulous light; you do good artwork as well as stories, don't sell yourself short. I really love this scene.

I once had a dream when I was young and I met my older self, it was strange and cool at the same time. I wondered how much do I realy want to know about the future, maybe better not to know... ;)

For "not being a visual artist" this is really magnificent. The way you handle the darks and lights, it looks like you've been doing it since you were the younger Jack's age... And I think you're right - there will be a renaissance of art, and it will have a darker tone. I've definitely taken a darker trend in my story.. Almost without even planning to. It just comes out during times like we've been facing. Not only with the pandemic, but also the virulent political scene, and the slow but steady degradation of society in general.
This is beautiful work. You may be right about there being a renaissance in art. We will see.
