It's an intriguing backstory. The image is a good one. We can see how young he is. Nice light and light flairs.
A hunted world walker, didn't see that one coming. Now who could have slipped that key into his pocket... :)
You actually gave me the idea. You said, 'ancient gate keeper', and that was all I needed. Of course he can't be ancient, all my characters start at 13 or 14, like Raen and Moeth, or Colton. I started them at 14 and told Raen and Moeth's story until they were in their 30's, and Colt's story I told until he was in his 60's. The only question was why would a Gate Keeper be walking around different worlds? And the answer was simple, he'd fallen through the wrong gate and was now a wanted criminal for stealing a gate key and using a forbidden gate. The rest of the plot will fall into place from there. I'm giving it some thought now whether to write the story. Jack might be a good character.

I like your comment above (to rhol-figament)...even a word or idea can spark off a whole story...the amazing thing about the image is that you capture his innocence: I take it he's a wanted criminal for things he didn't cause (his fall through the gate doesn't seem to be his fault): If that's true, you sure captured his innocence in his gaze and posture. And he's in shadow which is how a hunted child would want to be (as he slips through time and other zones to avoid his hunters). The light is deep dusk or just plain apocalyptic...and the silhouetted towers---old russian churches, maybe?---give it an air of him traveling through centuries. Really fine visual work on all of these images.
