If I remember correctly what I read, the F-80 Shooting Star jet was the very 1st jet fighter to shoot down another jet fighter in combat. But that distinction was short lived, because the F-80 was already obsolete by 1950 and in subsequent air battles, it suffered high losses from the Mig-15 fighter. It was pulled out of combat quickly and replaced by the F6F- Panther jet, a carrier based straight wing fighter, a pretty aircraft that was always painted dark blue. It was then replaced some time later by the F-86 swept wing jet fighter, which had a high kill ratio in combat with the Mig-15. Just some FYI that I've read in the past.
