Description
One final (for now) render of Spacegirl 2020 (Bathsheba's Starstrider.)
I couldn't resist getting my girl Rochelle in on the action!
I had an idea for a lighting scheme. It didn't work out, but I just pivoted and kept fiddling with the render until I got this. Now, full disclosure, I did change the glass to something more transparent. Used the "thin" glass preset from the base Daz set, and then set it's opacity to 90%.
Weirdly enough, even I even when and put a light _inside_ the helmet, her skin details were washed out. She has some lovely freckles. Something about the glass, I think. It's why I tried something more transparent, and I upped the brightness of my light source quite a bit from a previous attempt. Ah well, a mystery for another day.
The light is a tall skinny cylinder. I was hoping I could use it to create a strong bar of light on her, but it just wasn't working. I then built a box around the cylinder using primitives, and angled the ones of the front a bit. Still not quite what I had in mind, but I still think it's worth sharing. As for lighting up inside the helmet, I created a torus and dropped it inside. This I tinted a bright blue to simulate the sort of lighting you see in sci-fi movies.
I don't normally show Rochelle frightened. She's much too tough for that! So I imagine she's shown up for a photo shoot, the the cover of some trashy sci-fi novel.
The backdrop is another primitive, this time with one of Khory_D's Vintage Enamel shaders applied. Dull Red, I think, with high gloss.
Just goes to prove, that with Rochelle I never have a "bad" render! Still my favorite! (Sorry all the other girls!)

Space girl has a very nice suit! I hope she has some fine adventures ahead of her! Perhaps she will make some serious discoveries out in the galaxy somewhere?
Breaking through that glass ceiling in a rocket, boldly going and never mind who tries to get in her way!
It looks great! Red looks good on her! Being the brave person that she is...the photographer had a small test for her! He wanted to know, if she could somehow fake being afraid, as some scenes in the photo shoot required it! I think she did very well! Excellent and very well done! :-)
Thanks. She's showing her range! I like Rochelle so much, she's now the character "Rachel" in my book series. One of my earliest character purchases, and I think still the one I've done the most renders of. I appreciate your comments.
well done.
Thank you very much!
Rochelle frightened ? incredible news ! And great scifi image.
Thanks! I tried to do a "shy" portrait of her once and it ended up being one of the sultriest things I'd done, and there wasn't anything "shy" about it. I might be biased, but I think she's one of the very best!
Beautiful work Lyle, really top notch. Nice to see some closeup work with Spacegirl, I put some subtle detail into the textures, which I think (I hope!) hold up well in close work!
Love the light in the helmet, very 50's sci-fi (in fact, 50's right through to 80's if my memory serves!).
Thank you! And yes, I love the texture of the suit itself! I'm glad you like it! I did discover a small gap between the collar and the helmet when I lit it up. A little bit of the healing tool took care of it, but I thought it an amusing way to find a leak in the space suit, lol. I hope you're having much success and a wonderful day!
excellent
Thank you very much!
lylearyn this is an fantastic render ... absolut great lights and the expression is incredibly good
Thank you thank you thank you! It might have turned into a more complicated setup than I planned, but I'm pleased as punch over the results. I should note that I also fiddled just a bit with the shutter speed. Starting to learn how to mess with those render settings now. Kinda tweaked everything on my "surreal pinup" but here, just adjusting shutter speed a little made just the right amount of difference.
Very great work, it's superb :hibicus:
Thank you! Hope you are doing well. I've been enjoying your recent art, and always am downloading the free poses!
Looks good and great lighting
Thanks!
Wonderful image my friend :)

excellent scene
TYVM
Excellent
Thanks, Anita. Have a great Wednesday!
Super image!!! :-)
Thank you!
she looks shocked with her expression, a super sci fi piece with great light work.
Thank you! I'm glad it worked out.
Yep, the light in helmet is a pretty common sci-fi FX. It's NOT at all used IRL, as astronauts like to see out. Just in case there are aliens, robots, alien robots, or spacebabes. It's important to make a fast, and correct identification. Mistaking a zenomorph for a spacebabe because of poor lighting choices would be embarrassing and awkward, and how do you explain this to your parents?
Remember your manuals cadets!
Lol. For sure! But hey, retro suit. Gotta give it a nice retro style! Thanks for commenting, as always a pleasure!
Good point Madbat. it's nice too see outside never know what comes along. Nicely done.
You gotta wonder how the actors managed. I think there must have been a stage hand off-camera, giving them direction. Nowadays we can just green-screen it.
outstanding results and she is a doll
She is! From the first time I saw her in the store... i didn't even wait for a sale. She's been worth every penny.
Excellent work!
Thank you, RB. I appreciate you.
Spectacular job !
Yeah, i think it turned out ai'ight. false modesty
Thank you for having a look, my friend!
I think her expression is really well done. This is actually a very suspenseful render do to the light and shadow that accompany her expression. Interesting your experience with the light factor. I had a similar experience on the one I just posted. No matter how much I bumped the spots there was no effect. Luckily, brain1969's emission light sources came to the rescue. I just killed all fake lighting and used his environmental lighting.
Brain is quietly a lighting GENIUS. I'll get it figured out, though. I know I will.
Thanks for leaving your feedback! Always a pleasure, my friend.
Absolutbeautiful!!!!!!👏👍🙋♂️
Thanks!
Nicely done! I really like the lighting.
Thank you!
Rochelle looks fantastic.
Thank you, Starship!
Well, she's either doing a photo shoot, or General Grievous just came through the airlock....
Killer job on this scene - love how you put this together, and yes - it's definitely worth sharing. Glad you did! Your lighting here really helps show the textures of that suit. And it fits her soooooo nicely!
Thanks! So tempting to play with the nipple slider, but I decided on this one I'd leave it dialed back. lol. I know. I have problems.
