I mis-typed in my comment on the previous image. This is render #5, not #8 ;)
It was also full of pixel-dust, so I applied a 0.2 Gaussian blur....

too much 'detail' resulting in super-high-contrast adjacent pixels. It's another reason why setting a non-zero SFS on terrains is a Good Idea(tm).
