Description
The previous version of this didn't quite make me happy. There was something just a bit off about it. I passed it around a bit, and listened to some suggestions. I let the character speak.
There were comments that losing the coat would make her more feminine. (Three people looked at the original and said "He's cool.")
However, the coat was kinda central to the idea.
Then a friend mentioned that she didn't like the hair. I realized that was the problem. For one thing, weird to have wet hair when the rest of her is dry. For another, it just covers too much of the face. And hides her lovely ears! I scrolled through my runtime, and found "Gothic Mohawk for Genesis 3 male." A quick smoothing modifier added, and then application of hair shaders, and I think that came together nicely! This hair LOVED the shader set. No muss, no fuss. Just the way I like it!
From there, I realized that "Griffen" is a former Sky Ranger, like Periwinkle (You'll find Sky Ranger Periwinkle in my gallery) and so I thought to put her in something a bit more like Periwinkle's outfit. Back to the Aeon Soul store page! This is the "Lyra" outfit. I think this helps it step a littl emore into the Steampunk vibe, without taking it too far.
Then the boots were bugging me. I tried couple different ones, only then I found I bought the extra textures for these, and found a texture that matches the suit. And THAT did the trick!
The coat also had other options. This is "Witch Hunter Dark." (note, this is Long Coat for Genesis 3 female, converted using the converter from RSSY) A bit of adjustment to remove the bodice that texture loads with. I tried out the "blue" leather texture as well. Which matched the bodysuit, but then there was just too much blue. I settled on this. I really like it.
I also chose a different lip color, as the dark lips just didn't click for me. She don't look the type for makeup anyway.
Lighting was still good, so all that was left was to hit the render button and try to sleep. (Failed that last bit, but I'll sleep eventually!)
Now, quickly shrugging out of the coat, she's ready to leap from the side of the ship and dive into the ocean below!
Three crew members down. I'll have more of the crew soon. Can't wait for the players to meet them!
Thank you very much for taking a look. Have a good evening.

Another cracker! Love your characters, the addition of some background is just icing for a great image.
Very nice work!
Thanks!
First class work.
Thank you.
Thank you very much!
Awesome revision. Definitely needed to see those ears. She's got attitude and nothing screams attitude like a blue haired vixen with a sword in one hand and a flintlock in the other. Now I would suggest that she acquire a boot knife by the next time we get to see her. . Never let em take you to ground without a plan. A totally lovely revamp. Awesome work.
Thanks. I imagine there's a few other weapons hidden. She does have that coat, and the boots are nice and tall.
So glad you like it. Always good to see you around, my dude.
Excellent image and well worth the effort you put into it! The attention to the small details really shows! You are certainly right about the ears, they are too nice to cover up! I like it! :-)
Thank you. I appreciate the feedback.
She looks great Lyle. I watched your video last night and learned a few things that has helped me ease into my Daz Journey. Thank you.
Aww, that's a really nice thing to say. I'm glad I was able to help, in some small way.
WOW... Fantastic creation and beautiful character !!!👍🙋♂️
TYVM!
Another great scene, Lyle, I love the figure and her costume, and I really love how you can look longer at this and peer through the mist and see all the wonderful detail in the background. Great depth. :)
I really appreciate your feedback, Bella. Thank you for stopping in and leaving a comment.
excellent
Thanks a bunch.
Fantastic work.
Thank you! Much appreciated.
Fantastic image!!!
Thanks! You are lovely.
Well there is no mistaking her now! She looks marvelous!
Thanks a bunch! Have a great day. So glad you made the time.
after enjoy your text... step to the image - it's great and you are right, that hair is better also to see the ears now! maybe she need a belt where she can put in her weapons.....
nice work!
The way the jacket sits made the belt unfeasible. However, I did just pick up the "mesh grabber" tool. So maybe next time. Got a group shot to do soon.
Great image and excellent scene!
Thanks, Deva!
A sexy first mate! Great scene!
Her and the captain are pretty... Close.
The extra work paid off!!!! Beautiful colors as well!!!!!!!!
Thank you. I'm glad you like her.
Lovely revision of the original....and it works very nicely....obviously you could continue to do this indefinitely....as you change one thing other possibilities open up....as with the belt that has been mentioned...sheath belt, shoulder holster....would be interesting to see boots with a heel....quality lighting and render...top notch work...!
I'm hoping the mesh grabber tool will help with the belt. I worked quite a bit on trying to get one to work. Has to be over the coat to make sense. Might try the shoulder belt that came with the Captain's coat with a sheath.
She's still got her group photo, so at least one more chance to get a belt to work. For here, we'll just say she was in a hurry and just grabbed her sword from the wall.
(I actually have a couple more renders planned with her... Hmm... Hope they're liked when they appear.)
It's sad how often sword props are sold with sheaths to fit them!
Have a good day, and thanks for the feedback.
(As for heels of any sort... Not so practical for the deck of a ship! I got some great boots with heels on them.)
Another gorgeous render my friend, this character is really amazing.....love it.
Thank you. I really like her a lot now that I messed with it some more.
SHE WILL SORT THEM OUT
"Better get moving, or there will be stabbing!"
Nice work .
Thank you. I want to don another scene with her and the Captain, but I got other renders ahead of it. And... A commission! Wow. First one. Hope I do a good job. Have a great weekend.
Great work!!! I like it.
Thanks!
Excellent image! Excellent work! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you very much, ADC. Much obliged.
Awesome scene!
Thanks. I'm so glad!
Sleep? Wazzat??
Yeah, I really love her look here - fantastic work as always. All that time definitely paid off, my friend!
It's amazing how much time goes into all those little 'tweaks' and getting the details just right. Our work patterns are quite similar.
Sleep is the thing that lays beyond the dream. Or that's my theory, anyway.
Actually, I'm still awake. From before I posted this. Had a bit of near-sleep dozing, but that's it. SOO TIRED!
Thanks for having a look. I got the fourth member of the crew rendering now. She's taking longer than the other three combines, for some reason. But. I think she'll be worth it. However, I'm hankering to get more work done on my commission (first one, and I wasn't even looking) and really anxious to get started on the fifth member of the crew. Got some older props I'm hoping to make shine. If you look at my twitch, you can see me working on Crew Member Number Four in the previous broadcast.
Don't work yourself too hard.
Marvelous rendered scene ..!!
Thank you. I appreciate it!
This image is also wonderfully done dear friend, I wish you a nice Sunday!
Thank you, and to you as well. Thanks for giving me a smile!
She can be my Mate, any old time! I like this very much indeed!
Thank you. Sometimes in life, we just got to go be pirates for a while.
I liked her before, i still like her! Well done!
Thank you! Nice to be appreciated.
Perfect combination of character, clothing, and atmosphere. I like the way you keep improving your images and thinking them through.
I'd say that this art style suits my particular combination of mental illnesses perfectly. Thanks for stopping by!
dangerous and sexy, beautiful rendering
Thank you very much!
very determined warrior but yet very desirable. I am not in a very good mental condition myself of late
Aww. I will pray for you, my friend. And: You are number 30. That's the most comments I've had on a single piece! Kind of a milestone, I think.
Have a good evening, and thanks for stopping by.
