Description
This is an illustration for my new book, which I still need to come up with a title for. This would be for Chapter Four. Lola is in college for fashion design. It is just a few days before her final presentation, and the model who was going to wear the outfit cancels on her. There's a little more to it then that, but the end result is that Lola is pretty upset.
Lenny is there to give some comfort to her friend, and volunteers to walk the stage for the presentation. If you've seen the image of Lenny wearing the red dress, this scene would take place *before* that one. I've kinda been doing my illustrations as I've been inspired, and now that I'm starting the editing phase I'm sorta starting to fill in the gaps. I figure about 2 illustrations per chapter, with a few extras thrown in here and there, and POSSIBLY a portrait gallery. It's my first time doing this sort of thing, but I figure it's worth a shot. Since the project started as an attempt to do a web comic, I feel it's important to still have art be a pretty big part of it.
I've recently opened a Deviantart, under "LyleAryn." It's not fully fleshed out yet, but I plan on posting some story samples there, along with art you've seen here. I'm not entirely sure how exactly to best utilize Deviantart, but I figure if I widen my nets I might catch more fish. As much as I love doing the art, my passion is writing and now that I've completed seven books, (six in print already) I really want to do whatever I can to bring in more readers.
I did some interesting things with the lighting, kinda utilizing the older textures to make the scene feel a bit more graphic-novel-like. I really wanted a sewing machine, and only found ONE model, with surfaces that aren't very friendly towards reskinning, so I'm trying to make do, adding in a table that was also fairly low-detail, against walls that are also a little low-detail. The walls aren't too bad if you light them right, but in this case I leaned into a particular style, just using mesh lights to try and nail that composite graphic look. I'm not sure if I succeeded, but I like the end result, so...
Lenny:
dForce Jam Hair by Biscuits
Chameleon Rose Biker Outfit by Zoro_D (Jacket and boots)
RP Blue Angel/Blue Angel Expanse by RPublishing (jeans)
Lola:
Declan Hair for Genesis 3 Males by 3D Celerity, Daz Originals
dForce Talietha outfit by Anna Benjamin, Lyrra Madril, DAZ Originals (Shirt and pants)
Thanks for having a look, and thanks, as always, for the feedback/comments/praise/critiques.
I'm off to let it re-render my LAST render to fix that pesky sleeve. I couldn't make it look write in GiMP, so I'll just rerun the whole thing.

Wonderfully dramatic scene! Great poses and POV. I knew exactly what was taking place before I read your text!!!
Aww, thank you. That is wonderful to hear! It is nice to know the work delivers the intended effect.
Cool image, great render and light!!! Excellent work! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you. I look forward to your next submission. So glad you could stop by!
Lovely work!
Thanks Deva!
I think this is a very touching scene. So you are opening accounts at DA. I think that’s great. I’ve been thinking about posting there myself. Also I might start doing some stuff on artBreeder. I do hope you plan to stay here. I wish you the best on your coming books and know that I am an avid follower of your wonderful art.
Oh, I ain't going anywhere.
Just casting a wider net. Trying to figure the best way to go about things without bankrolling a massive ad campaign.
Thank you for the support!
good one I really don't like Deviantart but I have a page there mostly showing my photoshop and photography
Yeah. It's not as friendly as rendo, but I can post chapters and stuff there, so shrugs.
I figure anything art-wise posted there will be posted here, first, and I'll wait a couple days before posting to DA.
Thank you for all your great comments you leave on other artists works including mine, you are such a wonderful and friendly person, Lyle! You will always have my full support... Keep up the awesome work, I'm gonna have to kidnap some of your amazing talent lol. I have one of those dead DA accounts too, I'll add you to my watch list if I can remember what my password was lol
Aww. Thanks! That means a lot for you to say. There's a lot of great talent here, and very friebdly folk. It's been my pleasure.
You really captured an emotional moment here. Wonderful work!
Thank you. No matter what Lenny is going through, if she sees a friend in trouble, she drops everything for them. Dialing in these scenes has been a challenge, but it seems as if that effort is paying off. So glad you could stop by.
Super image!!!
Thank you, Nobby. Good to see you!
Beautiful scene
Thank you. I'm glad you think so, too. :)
very touching scene and superb poses
So kind of you to say. I really enjoy poses with more than one person. They xan be a real bugger to set up, but if you pull it off the results are always fantastic.
A splendid and supportive illustration. Two lovely ladies with lives to live. And they are doing it. I enjoy reading your descriptive as well. You are a very talented artist! Keep up the great work you do!
Thanks. I enjoy doing the write-ups. I still haven't done my system reinstall. Things have been crazy lately, and I really need to be able to dedicate a full weekend+ to the endeavor to get it all done correctly. However, stuff like this has shown the increasing need to get it done. This fit easily into the video memory, but WOULD NOT do anything other than CPU render. Frustrating! Others I've done will GPU render, but do so very slowly - more so then it should warrant. I do believe getting it sorted will make a difference, since it used to render much quicker. Another thing that has made me hesitate to jump into the reinstall is that I plan on building a new PC. Part of me wonders if I should bother sorting this one out since I'll just be building a new one anyway. Current plan is to at least get all my book illustrations done, and then decide. About 2 per chapter, @ 15 chapters. I've been making good progress though, despite having to redo a few because I updated Lenny's hair. (And that Jam hair is certainly worth the extra render time!)
Wonderful narrative and a marvelous image, very well done!
Thank you for dropping by and leaving a comment! Have a blessed evening.
very emotional render with an great lighting
Thank you. I'm glad you like it!
Wonderful emotion in this scene, Lyle, and the lighting is perfect. It's like it's there, but "just" out of their reach, which is reflective of their emotional state. Great work. :)
Aww, shucks... That is very pleasing to hear. Thank you so much! You have a wonderful day now.
Well done!
Thanks ikke!
Such a tender moment! This is as good as it gets!
I agree. These two have already inspired great renders. I don't pyt them in the same scene often enough. I'll by remedying that, though. You have a good day now.
It looks like a photo, perfect posing
Aww, thank you. That means a lot.
