Ce type de propulseur n'a pas une poussée si grande, seulement 1000 tonnes, mais il a une impulsion spécifique (force de sa poussée x temps de poussée, pour une quantité spécifique de carburant) qui dépasse tout propulseur au point d'être le seul à pouvoir déplacer de gros astéroïdes, et même des lunes.
