LOL - that's a little reference to my childhood.... I loved bugs (still do), and some of the kids used to call me Bugface to make fun of me! I got even with 'em... heh heh heh... 😉🤣

Love the gangster names. Intriguing plot line forming. Excellent scene renders and, as always, your attention to detail makes the images really stand out. Just having a bit of the guy's hand holding the photo adds to the mood. I hope the Girls keep these girls safe.

The suspense builds. Good stuff here. Your details always amaze me. I like the lighting through the window blinds and the view out the window and on the computer screen. Even the names are interesting and dangerous. Good job on all of this.

Really do like this page, Rod...those gansta names are a blast :) In addition to a great story line, the detail and lighting are excellent. Eagerly awaiting the next installment...Good to know your muse is awakening (wish I could say the same).

Beautiful scene and composition !!!

First, I'm glad your muse is returning piece by piece...I fully understand why it's been slowed by the pandemic. (And every time you speak of "what's left of my brain," I get this great image of a vast auto-graveyard, with this huge brain sitting there, in the darkness, with the sign, "what's left of Rod's brain..." There's a story in there, I swear!) Whatever you feel about your brain, it's on full, brilliant display every time you come to RR, so, from our perspective, you have nothing to worry about...

I love that you use old gangster film diction, and the names match too. (Some childhood cronies called you "bugface" lol? How did you get back at them: Grow antennae and mandibles?) (I don't even know what a mandible is!) Anyway, you have a real 30s/40s dialogue here, w/ matching names. I almost expect E.G. Robinson to come in and say, "we're gonna do it MY way, seeeee?"

You start with the 'establishing shot', and your lighting gives just enough spookiness to say this is gonna be a sinister tale. (Well, "GRAVES" is a clue!) Your lighting remains subtle and sinister throughout, and I agree with Barb (bakapo) about the light from the windows. (I agree with her on everything she says. She hits things on the head every time.) I like the dark office too, and the screen with the dark night image: makes this place seem sneaky, back-handed, surveilling...Plus the boss who says, in essence, "you mess up, you pay". You even have the light on the computer-front---blue and mysterious. It just adds a feeling of being watched. And I really like how you bring Layla and Lilla into it---via a photograph, rather than a full frame: Story-within-story stuff. And, "this is gonna be a piece of cake": Anyone who knows your work knows those are gonna be "famous last words" which the gangsters will regret one day.

Given that you have to write these, then serialize them---picking just the right details for each installment, and no more or less (I appreciate that ability more than you know, since I struggle with it constantly)---then illustrate them, with your expert way w/ light, hue, composition, pose, costume, etc, I can understand how these aren't easy when you're tired, depressed or emptied out. These are huge undertakings. (It's why I've never, ever done graphic novels.) I wish you all the inspiration in the world with these. I hope your spirits pick up more and more with each day. It's been a helluva year, hasn't it? (And we have such a fine leader...) Take care, and thanks for all you bring to this place. You're a beacon here.
