Description
Our time traveling hero, Onishi, decided being a PI in 2813 isn't all that different to being a PI in the hard-boiled days of Dashiell Hammett's Sam Spade. Except now everyone carries photon blasters that can be set to stun or kill and you never know for sure which setting the blaster is on when its pointed at you, so you pretty much always have to have yours set to stun because its highly illegal to kill someone shooting at you if theirs is on stun. Also not everyone you go after is human. Not with AIs and cyborgs and even visitors from other parts of the galaxy all managing to pick up the same bad habits as their human counterparts. And sometimes its hard to tell they are not human, on the surface anyhow; but you definitely need to be sure before you try to arm wrestle, say a cyborg, into submission. That is if you want to keep your arm. Others can be toxic, just to breath in the air they breath out can kill you. But basically its the same thing. You get the call, telling you its an easy gig, just follow someone, get some picture... You know the usual drill. Then suddenly people you don't know are trying to kill you. And sometimes people you do know. Half the time your not sure who is on your side and who is really out to get you and who it just seems might be but really are trying to help you - in some strange, screwed up nearly mental sort of way. One thing you can count on though: The Client always lies.
