Description

USS Enterprise in 1962. The last commitment of the HUP on large aircraft carriers. Two years later it will be phased out. The HUP did the job of guarding catapult operations and pull out ditched pilots in emergency. The HUP was part of CVG-1 on Enterprise in 1962 (later renamed CVW-1) in the HU-2 detachment. On deck you see A-4C Skyhawks of VA-66 "Waldos", A-1H Skyraiders of VA-65 "The World Famous Fighting Tigers", and F-8E Crusader of VF-33 "Nighthawks". In front of the island are F-4B Phantom II of VF-102 "Diamondbacks" and A-5 Vigilante of VAH-7 "Peacemakers of the Fleet".

Excellent addition to the carrier series! The variety of aircraft on the carrier is indeed impressive! Nice shot of color with the chopper. Great work.

That's a very convincing deck load and the ancient helicopter is quite a step down from the modern machines.
