In my country, the Wolf is returning since a few decades. He enjoyed a great protection from the law and must not have been shot by a hunts men. But when he started to attack some sheep herds in the mountains, people cry out for protection and all the old fears of men being attacked by wolfes arises again. Instead to help the sheep owners to take some effective actions to help the sheep owners to protect their herds, the government decided recently to lift the wolfs protection so that he might be prosecuted and shot. So once again, nature has to suffer, just because it is in the way of mens fears and own interests (read profits).

Kalypso and the Poser Staff

In addition to the brilliant use of white and subtle blues, and that wonderful breath vapor, I want to say that this is a brilliantly composed image. The POV brings us down to the wolf's level, giving us a great view of his face, but you also (wisely) place up just a bit so that we get a view of the whole body. The head tilt is really well done, and your placement of the figure in the trees frames him PERFECTLY. Also, you made an excellent choice of placing the edge of the exposed log in the lower corner. This bit of darkness actually makes our eyes travel across the illustration, rather than just coming to rest directly on him. And that bit of movement in our eyes makes this more lively in our minds. Subtle but brilliant touch.

Byyye!) Ok, I'm still here...In addition, I love your beautiful late day blues, and those gentle greens they turn into (love those greens). There's something so gentle and accepting about this, and it fits your words perfectly. Some people who study dogs say that the reason dogs howl from high sounds is that they're going back to their primal canine roots: responding to the canine's call for its own, its family, its roots. So something ancient may be going on when a dog howls at a simple siren...Your wolf is howling too---we can see his breath...Beautifully and sensitively done.
