Description
A few weeks ago I posted a photo of a tree growing out of solid rock. I called it Childhood Memories.
Today, I was going through a bunch of my dad's old slides that I have previously scanned, and I stumbled across these two photos. These were taken in or about 1957. The lady is my real (biological) mom, and the little bugger is..... Me!
I seem to remember the tree being considerably smaller, but it seems to be pretty close to the same size as it is in my recent photo - possibly even a little taller. I guess it was just me that was smaller! LOL
The fence was in better condition back then - it was looking rather neglected in my photo. Come on, Wyoming... You can surely afford a couple gallons of paint!
Anyway, I thought you might like to see a moment from the past compared to the one I posted last month.

LOL - You didn't see me sitting with Photoshop for 2.5 hours with the spot removal brush, Jay.. 🤣 There are still about 20 million little dust specks in the original!

delightful...I assume your dad was taking the picture? (I don't know who was around when, but you two are IN the picture, so someone else was taking it...) The top shot shows you both smiling, and you are smiling down on her, and she's wearing this great Western-style outfit. I like the son-mother connection here. And in the second shot, you're smiling at the camera, and your mom looks like she's gotten very serious all of a sudden. (And I agree w/ barb about those socks, lol---major socks!) Your mom really was stylish, and is that a 50s hairdo or what! (And, well, you have hair, lol. I did till I was 15, then it took off for parts north...) Delightful, Rod. You can post old photos anytime you want. Lotsa light in this too.

Great photos and very cool socks ! ! ! Plus, very retro and 1957-ish with the rolled up jeans and your mom's hairdo, shades and scarf. You can almost hear "Peggy Sue" coming out of a car radio, somewhere in the background ! ! ! !

Odd, in my head I imagined you'd be wearing a three-corner hat and holding a musket.
Really though, you're very lucky to have this photo, so many of mine were thrown out by my Aunt; she got to the house before me after Grandpa passed and oh was she vindictive. Family feuds can be hard on family heirlooms.
