I do not think that overall there is a decrease in morals. We tend to romanticize the past and as children we were not aware of what adults were up to . I have read a lot of history and cannot fine a time when someone , somewhere , was not being treated badly. Compassion is an issue especially someas political leaders manipulate fear of "the other" who are presented as a threat rather than folks just like us overall.
