I live in a suburb of DC and the feeling here is that it wasn't half as bad as it might have been. Even the anti Trump majority found the fly-overs pretty cool to see. I stayed home.

I am not too sure why people are so upset with what Trump has done with the Independence day celebration. India is the biggest democracy in the world and even in India there is a Military parade with tanks and missiles along with other things. It is something Indians are proud of. It does not divide us. Point is it is not only the dictators that have military parades, most democracies that have some form of military also have such parades. And just because there is a military parade does not mean that country wants to conquer others. I think people need to chill.
