Description

Ready to smash the forces of tyranny and injustice, the Liberty Brigade charges into action. Battling evil in the air are Nike (named after the Greek goddess, not the despicable shoe company) and Jet Jackson, while fighting for freedom at ground level are Kid Lightning, Professor Mandrake, Mouse, and the unstoppable Human Tank. Evildoers beware! The Liberty Brigade is on the move. I usually wait and post new pictures after midnight, but I decided in this case it would be more appropriate to post on Independence Day. Some of you may have noticed that all of my superhero pictures are set during the early 1940s - during the Golden Age of Comics. The 48 star flag and 10 cent cover price show that this picture is from that era as well.

Cool composition of the superheroes! I remember paying 10 cents for a comic book way back in the 1930s and 40s. How times has changed. Money went much further back then than it does now. Have a glorious 4th of July!
