Not that the herd needed protection by the shepherd, It was more to protect everything else FROM the herd. And putting the fires out.
(@ moebiustraveller: I think I need urgent help with postworking flames ;D)
Mixing some older stuff with new purchases. (grass, clothing).

Splendid work on this scene.Like the quality of the light. His role is reversed I see :). Not sure if you added the fire in postwork, but in general you can add an emissive light to the fire plane / prop and by adjusting its power you should be able to get a good fire effect.

Naw, plain Iray. (ok, threw some HDR postwork into it, but the grass was already green on the other side of the monitor...)

Beautifully crafted scene here. I think the flame effect is quite sufficient. It sort of doesn't detract from the scene overall, like a big splash of orange/red might do!
Very cool HDR looking image.....flames need some work...but guessing you already know that...still does not detract from what is a great image and render....!!.
