Description
Joanne had been a Lady’s maid to an older, well-to-do woman. The Lady had always told Joanne that she would get a sizeable amount of money when the older woman died. That time came and, while Joanne was truly saddened by the death, she was also comforted by the promise of enough money to start a small business. That was until the Lady’s nephew accused Joanne of stealing from the woman and had her arrested and nullified the bequest. Now Joanne was locked up and awaiting deportation to Botany Bay. There was no justice for the poor in this city.
