Description
I searched for wingless wasp and I am thinking this critter is the same. there are over 3000 varieties of wingless wasps. in some the female has no wings, but the male does and a vicious sting

Never heard about wingless wasps; I am learning every day. I do not think that you tried to be too close to such critter for your close up photo. Interesting photo!
