If the Lord had not seemed distant and silent for so long, when He first drew near and spoke to me it may not have changed my life 180 degrees. And if He had not waited until my helplessness made me willing to hear His Voice, I would have settled for physical death rather than Spiritual Birth (which I did not know was real).
