A normally very busy street lies lifeless on an early Fourth of July morning.

Everyone must be sleeping late.... Neat photos, my friend!
I guess you were the only one up early. Nice captures.
That was taken 4th of July morning. That evening was an entirely different scene. It was more like a battle zone !
I'm up earlier than usual, and, as I still have some time for RR comments, I'll do a couple more in your gallery. I love the gray feel of these shots, and the profusion of empty concrete and asphalt (or whatever the roads are made of) (I'm not very astute on those matters). And the almost Midwestern flatness of it all: In fact, it's hard to believe that, a ways from this city, mountains sit. There's one car on the street in the top shot; and, other than those cars way in the distance, I don't see any in the bottom shot. (Well, one appears to be inching in on the far right, but maybe it's parked.) This emptiness allows your perspective lines to shine unimpeded; and the lines of this broad a huge city really come out. Both shots are really well seen; and I like that you let the muted and even slightly sad colors speak for themselves. These are beautiful...and I can imagine what your son said, how this area turns into a battle zone when the fireworks come out...right now, it's a city abandoned and melancholy. Fine pair of shots, Harry.
