Description
Zola agreed to take care of her friend’s dog while the friend went on vacation. Her friend warned Zola that Duke was a very energetic walker and to be ready, but Zola was confident she could handle him. The morning of their first walk Duke began to quiver when the leash was attached to his collar, but Zola was not worried. She managed to get them out the door and down the steps without incident, but once on the sidewalk, all bets were off. Duke was headed for the Park and wasting no time about it. Zola was doing everything she could to stay on her feet and try to rein Duke in to a trot instead of a full canter, but the Great Dane was the size of a Shetland pony and knew he was in charge. This was going to be a long week for Zola if she survived.

Love how trying out a new object leads you to a whole new story...Teri, I'm at 45 minutes, and I have to move on, as I still have a whole bunch of people I've not gotten to. Which is why I skipped over several images--so I could comment on one near the present. But I do see every one, and sit with them; and it should be apparent that I love this gallery. On this little gem...
I love the story idea, I love that she's stuck with Duke for a while. I love Duke's lunging posture---clearly he's the one in charge, not her. And I love how she encounters 2 other dog walkers, with dark dogs (color/light contrast). The setting is very bright, which sets off the deep shadows, of which you have a number here. And Duke crosses in front of a pillar near-center, which feels right, visually. I imagine that wasn't a conscious choice, but it's something we do intuitively, as a 'design' matter. Love the angles here too, and those two very richly colored trees. Delightful image! She probably would like to let him go, on the hope he doesn't come back; but that doesn't work out well for her friend. ("He fell in love with a pekinese, and they eloped..." Not a good excuse...) Always great to spend time here, Teri. I hope your arm is healed, and I wish you and your family a great rest of the fall!
