Description
Cautiously stepping through the shimmering dome, and back into the wind, Rowan looked back to see an opaque surface, the same dull greyish brown as the ground, with no sign of the light that illuminated the inside; from any distance it would easily blend into the small tors that dot the moor.
Stepping back inside to the comfortable warmth, she gave him a begrudgingly impressed smile as she admitted; “Alright now I am impressed… I don’t suppose you have any more of those little trinkets?”
“Sorry, it was a gift from a mage I traveled with some time ago… she told me that it invokes a commonly known spell, but investing it into the token was unique as far as she knew” Coran replied with a satisfied grin, then he inquired thoughtfully; “If this is such an uncommon route into Harrowdale, why were you watching it?”
“That’s the reason,” she stated emphatically. “Anyone intent on causing trouble probably will not want to be seen coming, so they’re more likely to try and sneak in by an usually unused route. With Scaredale Town literally teaming with thieves, the restless spirits that haunt the Cold Fields, and the drow who so recently infested Haptooth Hill, there’s no shortage of villains lurking around here.”
“Maybe we should have just taken the Moonsea Ride back to the Halfaxe Trail,” Taenya admitted with a quizzical look. “But it certainly has been an eventful journey… so far we’ve run afoul of a vengeful ghost, made new friends at the Green Door and entertained nearly the entire town of Hap… all since leaving Ashabenford.”
“What do you mean you ‘made new friends at the Green Door’?” Rowan inquired cautiously, seemingly reluctant to imply that there was anything of unusual interest at the inn.
“Lady Sharlee and her three partners joined us in my Circle Dance in the bower behind the inn the night we stayed there,” the drow priestess revealed, omitting the area’s significance, but suspecting that the ranger, who wore the unicorn symbol of Mielikki about her neck, was already well aware of it.
“They allowed you to perform a rite to Eilistraee in the Green Door?” the ranger questioned, more than a little surprised that the guardians of the sacred site would allow not only a rite to a different deity on the scared ground, but would reveal its existence to a drow.
“Yes… they told us that Mielikki had given her blessing,” Taenya reported, now absolutely certain that Rowan was aware of the sacred pound’s existence, then, looking skyward to see that the moon had fully risen, she announced; “In fact, it’s time for me to make my prayer to the Dark Maiden… of course your welcome to join me if you’d like.”
“Dance naked in the moonlight… out in that wind… I think I’ll pass, thank you,” Rowan smirked, looking questioning toward Coran and Mistale, having noticed that she had used the word ‘us’ in her statement about the innkeepers joining her dance.
“I think I will as well,” Mistale confessed, she didn’t have any issue with stripping naked in front of the decidedly beautiful ranger, but the cold howling winds were enough to discourage her.
“Alright,” the drow cleric sighed with a disappointed pout, proceeding to disrobe with no apparent hesitation, leaving Rowan staring dumbfound at her glorious, petite, naked body, as she took up her dagger sized sword and stepped outside the magical shelter, her hair immediately being whipped about by the wind. Planting her sword in ground, after returning it to its normal size, she stood still for a moment, looking up towards the moon, then she started singing her wordless melody and circling the sword, turning and twisting in a breathtaking erotic display, increasing to a feverous pace, losing herself in the delirium of her religious fervor, until she collapsed to her knees in prayer.
