Description

The castle has a current plan of ovoid shape, a courtyard surrounded by a wall encloses an inner courtyard, which contains the museum of the sea. The so-called Arundel tower, of square shape and equipped with machicolations on rather rare trilobal arches, is the keep of the castle in the XIVth century. Another tower was demolished in the 17th century, at the site of the jetty. It was the Arbondelle tower, whose name had to be deformed into "Arundel" and given back to the present tower to replace the old demolished one.
