This woman was a joy to watch. Every movement she did, the movement of her eyes, the movement of her neck and head, the movement of her arms, hands, fingers, body, the movement of legs and placement of her feet, were perfection. She was dancing alone, except for what I believed to be a 'Matai' in the background, doing the exact same movements. When she reached the front part of the 'stage', in front of the 'Matai' she turned around and when she reached the other end she pulled out a fan, which she had stuck behind her head, and repeated the movements again, except this time in synchronization with the fan. She was the only dancer that wore some sort of facial paint and she was by far the best dancer that afternoon. But she also danced for the families, and most likely for the 'Matai.. I have no clue what the movements meant, or what the facial markings meant, but it was perfection.
