Description
Not the most special photo but...
This beautiful runnel is just outside my studio door, and usually hidden from view by the metal cover.
This high quality engineering tile work is indeed rare nowadays. The main sewer drain at my back gate is equally beautifully made, but deep enough for a man to stand in just peeping out over the top. . I expect plastic is the norm now, but I wonder if it will last as long. My house was built in 1923.
Scanned from a photo, as I can no longer lift the cover unaided!

nowadays it's build it quick and cheap - who cares if it doesn't last! Great capture and commentary
They don't make them like this anymore.
Superb capture Andrea. God bless.
i think its quite beautiful
Super shot Andrea.
Beautiful workmanship. Here in California plastic is the way to go in home building. One must be careful to get the right type as some plastics will leach harmful chemicals.
I have mentioned this before but I feel many of our problems today are the result of a ‘slapdash’ attitude, done too hurriedly and carelessly. There were many problems in 1923 but being indifferent with your work was not usually one of them.
What a beautiful object! It's got everything I might look for in an abstract composition. Graceful, lovely, AND useful. Delightful!
Interesting find and capture!
