Description
A Fool's Errand--an Allegory
After a ceremony to bestow her with the "powers" of the evil autocratic ruler of the land, this unwitting fool was ordered by the ruler to stop the universal clock. The evil ruler wanted time to stop since he was happy with the current status of all things and did not want them to change--further, he was so filled with conceit, hubris, and believed he was the most powerful, intelligent ruler of his world, of the universe. He believed that his self-perceived "powers, his omnipotence, were unequaled and that his commands would, of course, be carried out successfully.
No surprise that he was wrong on each count, and now this poor little fool, who was unsuccessful in her errand, is standing in the Universal Clock's Tower. She realizes now that the evil ruler has no more special powers than she, but what is she to do?
