Description
Baboquivari Peak as seen from highway 286 is located about 50 miles southwest of Tucson between Robles Junction and Sasabe on the Mexican border. Illegal aliens, or more politically correct nowadays, undocumented persons who cross the border from Mexico into Arizona often perish during the summer months between here west toward Yuma because of the extreme heat and the wide open, empty spaces and the lack of water. Much of the area west of Nogales is occupied by the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation, the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge, and the Barry M. Goldwater Air Force Range to Yuma.
To attempt to stem the flow of these illegals, and the associated crime of human and drug smuggling, is more difficult than can be imagined. Border patrol vehicles and highway checkpoints are everywhere, but other than that there is not much else.

Dry and desolate territory. Illegals crossing it shows how desperate people are to get into America. There doesn't seem to be a solution to the problem since American businesses are willing to hire them.
