you do single portraits from time to time, just one model and no more; and they're a very expressive series...you really do them well, Mike, you capture a whole mood or gesture in one posture, and there's often a feeling that they're looking way beyond the frame, which makes your pictures 'larger'. Very complex pose, she's really got more than one thing on her mind...with your usual way with outfits, weave, etc. And here's your white again...so often artists and photographers avoid lots of white and black because of their ability to dominate an image; but you use them so well, and poetically. This piece is perfect with nothing but that white background, and the subtle shadows you always put upon it...
