Description
I don't normally post pics of someone else's art, but I don't have much of my own just at present, so I thought I would show you this.
I have always been a keen theatre-goer and love dance as well as plays, musicals and even light opera.
Sadly I don't really feel up to going out at night any more, but I have great memories aided by a collection of fliers and a few programmes.
If you aren't aware of Matthew Bourne and his brilliant company I can't recommend him too much! He is probably most famous for his all male Swan Lake, which rather altered the love story. Fabulous!
Also his Les Sylphides, which started out in the gents' urinals in a Glasgow dance hall.

Very good!
Excelent Andrea !!!
I remember the controversy when his Swan Lake came out. I love the sub-titles on these fliers.
it's really nice to see these pieces from your collection of things from the world...I do indeed know of MBourne, though I've never seen his company in person. I know he's gotten tons of accolades and awards for his work. I've heard of the male Swan Lake---I'm in favor of all custom-breaking (I wish I could've seen Glenda Jackson's King Lear). You did a good job laying out the pages of programs and the blurbs, etc. Live dance is like nothing else; I worked backstage at a famous concert venue which had Balanchine every year, and got to see them rehearse and also see the dancers closeup from behind the stage. Since I was studying Stravinsky at the time, it was a thrill because Balanchine did several Strav. ballets for the first time. But he also did Bach, and lots of other composers. I also saw the Alvin Ailey company in NYCity, many times, and others. There's nothing like it. Wonderful post, and I'll have to check out Bourne on YouTube...
Interesting!
