Okay, back to Brittany & Diego's wedding!
The morning of the wedding was relatively relaxed, but there was a schedule posted on the wall, and everybody knew what they were supposed to be doing. Brittany had two hair and makeup artists come in to work on nine participants. Bride, matron of honor, four bridesmaids, one groomswoman, one mother of the bride and one mother of the groom. Everything went smoothly, and everyone had a terrific time! The women had the main floor of the house, and the guys got ready downstairs. I was with the women most of the time, so I only got shots of the guys once they were all dressed and ready to go. I hope the professional photographers got pictures of the men, because I was only on the lower level for a few minutes.
This is Char. She and Brittany have been friends since they were little kids. Char was one of the bridesmaids, and you may recognize her from the pictures I posted of the wedding shower. This is one of those lucky candid shots that we all hope for and so rarely get. I was standing next to Char, she looked up to say something to me, saw the camera, and smiled just as I was pressing the shutter. That was it. A single shot. I LOVE it when everything works!

'Char' or charwoman in English (from the Hindi) used to mean originally 'tea-lady' and later 'cleaning woman'. I expect these meanings are now lost on younger people!

a spontaneous shot which feels wholly worked out and posed (that's a compliment), it has a studio quality in the angle and the smile and the presence. She's beautiful in this shot, and it's all the more special because you caught it naturally, spontaneously. Your ability to do this on the spot---something that has been noted above (read rod) comes from years of doing candid portraits. Your eye is innately aware and ready. A beautiful portrait, and a beautiful soul shining through.
