Description
Here is a nicely patterned Checkerspot Butterfly on some Goldenrod blooms.
At one time I had several rows of Goldenrod that volunteered along the steeply sloped un-mowed edges of the terraced levee on the dam end of my pond. It was a haven for all kinds of insects, spiders and so forth. I managed to follow an entire season in the life of several spiders because I knew where their homes were. A goodly number of butterflies and perching dragonflies were also common. Sadly, the Goldenrod played out after several years due to drought conditions. The same is true for many plants on my property that attracted such visitors. Things are getting better because we have been getting more that normal rainfalls for the past few years. No Goldenrod yet but I see an upturn in insect populations.
I think I will start a series of spider images tomorrow.
I know many people will not be as enthusiastic about spiders as I am but it will be another 3 image series so bear with me.
My thanks to those who have taken the time to comment.
The feedback is appreciated.
