Description
Delphi ( Δελφοί in greek language) is an ancient sanctuary dedicated to Apollo in Greece, on the slope of Mount Parnassus
This sacred place had a great influence in Greek history because of an important oracle (the Pythia).
Delphi was a very rich center because many Hellenic cities made offerings to gain Apollo's protection or favor and there were many treasures on the site.
Treasures look like small temples but they are places to keep safe gold, money or war spoils. On my picture, you can see Athens treasure that was rebuilt with the pieces they found on the archeological site.
Every nine years, there was a sportive competition in Delphi : the Pythian Games in honor of Apollo.
There was also a theater to perform a spectacle near the temple.
Nowadays, Delphi is a small town not far from the archeological site.

Il est incroyable d'admirer toutes les ruines de ces antiques civilisations et de s'imaginer tout ce que les hommes et femmes qui y vivaient ont pu faire. Combien de trahisons, de fidélité, d'amour et de haine, combien de corrompus et d'hommes honnêtes. Combien se croyaient immortels et leur civilisation supérieure aux autres...? Nous foulons maintenant leur poussière et leur pensée s'est perdue dans l'espace-temps... Superbe photo ! Qui m'inspire !
Que peut-on dire d'original après Atlas ? Je tenterais bien "c'est beau" mais c'est d'une platitude ! "Formi-extra-chouette-balèze*"...mais ça ne fait pas sérieux ! Alors humble mais honnête, je vais exprimer mon admiration devant cette beauté.

Je rejoins ce qui a été écrit précédemment sur la beauté de ce site qui a dû abriter tant de gens et héberger tant de courants de pensées, au cours de plus d'un millénaire. Tu as su capter la force et la magie du lieu , Virginie , cette photo est tout simplement magnifique et tellement inspirante.
