Description
From Brittany's wedding shower last weekend. I have no idea what the story was, but you can see how much fun they were having!
The storyteller in the coral top is the mother of the bride.
The woman in the black dress is Coral's best friend from high school.
The woman in the periwinkle dress is one of the bridesmaids, and has known Coral since Periwinkle was in kindergarten.
There's a lot of history and good times in this picture! This is one of those pictures where what I want to show you is more important than the sharpness of the image. As Andrea would say, it's a triumph of content over quality. :)

A wonderful snapshot!
This has such warmth. And the position of the mother makes me wonder what it was she was talking about. I guess you had to be there.
You can call it content over quality, but god, we're so inculcated by digital photography---and perfecting all the technical aspects of it---we all forget that many great human shots---on film, and going back years---weren't technically 'dazzling'. They even looked slovenly by today's standards. This is one of the greatest examples, by the great Depression photographer, Jack Delano:

Honestly, can you feel anything but knocked over by the power of that shot (and the composition and light is wonderful too, I think). But, it's not 'clean' by today's standards, it's hardly pristine. It's old, it's film, it's from another era. Take it as high compliment that your shot reminds me of his. And I know you'd rather have an ultra pro camera for this moment, so you'd have no grain (from ISO I assume---6400 isn't 'low'): But you got a great moment, the "decisive moment," and it gives truth to that hackneyed phrase, "a picture is worth a thousand words" (or stories). Terrific shot, Tara, a fast eye on you, and a great human moment, all of which make the fleeting, passing part of life go away, and make us feel that human connection is everlasting. The content is everything in candid photography, but anyhow there is nothing wrong with the quality of this pic either ! I haven't been too well, caused by my ropey lungs, which made me not only really physically disabled by breathlessness for a while, but down in the dumps. The medication I started yesterday cured the physical and your photo has cured the depression! Thankyou, Tara!

Indeed, a photo doesn't have to be technically perfect to give the viewer a wonderful warm feel of friendship and good times. This is so full of fun it could be totally out of focus, and underexposed and still be a winner! Great shot, Tara!
