I grew up in a state that had no death penalty. The routine judicial actions were taken care of by Justices of the Peace. The city I lived in had an old and new courthouse. I knew the circuit judge personally as a customer on my paper route where his wife usually paid me. He lived next door to the church organist in an old barn roofed house. In reading a history of the development of the oil business through 1973 I purchased at the Petroleum Museum in Midland, Texas I noted how the counties were formed with school houses and then courthouses. Many came with the railroad which served the oil fields. Now with the hurricane that has struck near Corpus Christi the judges have emerged as the spokesmen for the community. Many have noted the beauty of the courthouses at more normal times. The predictions of the weather model builders are proving accurate and there I find myself. After the 80's and the post-Apocalyptic prophets and the Evangelistic communication reached out to my sons and the appearance of the Tea party and a new focus on Conservatism I saw very little refuge in the Law. Ok, what is this tall old white haired experience that is saying stay home, wait it out.
