Description
The Cathedral Square in Christchurch. The view is toward the East. The cathedral is in the center and the tall building to the left is the Novotel Hotel.
When we arrived we stopped right in front of the cathedral and had our first glimpse of it. It was shocking. And then we were told that we would stay at the Novotel Hotel. We were assured that the hotel is save, It sits on 'rollers' and had triple-redundancy construction. And the old cynic in me was wondering what if the next earthquake requires quadruple-redundancy? In any case we were cautioned to make sure to read the emergency escape plan posted on each room door.
