Description
All that remains of a once thriving business is a baldy worn tire and an old wooden sign. Along coastal route #1 in Pembroke, Maine, USA on July 10th, 2017.
This scene is so typical and common along the roadside of Maine, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. So many small business closing and abandoned... service stations, motels, dinners, restaurants, drug stores, barbershops, etc. I find it quite sad...

Cool aged sign, it is sad many old business have gone under. I would collect that sign if it were possible. Great find and capture.
Right, very much roadside Maine...we need to get back up there and keep our eyes open for these opportunities. Our plan for this fall includes visiting Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Vermont. Neat shot!
wonderful capture of the decline in the Americas

Cool, great capture!
Such an evocative shot. Well seen, and well done!
Excellent image⦠so full of feeling and the chill of fading prosperity. Timeless!
Brilliant! It sums up your narrative perfectly.
Beautiful
Beautiful capture.
Sad to see. My question is always "Why?" Same in Mobile, Alabama. The whole old down town was shut and boarded up. Why? Keep up the good work. :-)
It isn't the airport that has led to this. That closed decades ago. Cold is now available from a machine anywhere. No need to go North or stay North.
Superb capture and timeless image great job
same thing in the mid west of the USA. sad to see so many close, but they call that "progress"
