More from our trip several years ago to Great Sand Dunes in Colorado. I've enjoyed playing with light and colors with these dune shots. Looking through my old shots, I can see I took a lot of pictures at different settings and at different times of the day. It's a fun place!

Beautiful shot
Very elegant curves. Looking at just the bottom of this, it looks like it could be a shot of waves on the ocean, with a small dark shape just left of center that could be a swimmer...

For such a pared back composition it has a threatening feel ! The dune is about to swoop down and envelope us.

I'm going to do more than just one of your images this time, but as I"m starting late tonight, I'll come back for more tomorrow. I'm sorry I don't do them all---and quicker---but the time I spend on comments makes it so hard. (I didn't get back here very much in my absence, so I didn't catch up.) But let me start now...Your dune shots have been studies in texture, flow, light and dark, etc. This one feels like film---really, really like film. I'm surprised at the low ISO, because there's a soft grain to it; but the pic doesn't feel like it's grained, it feels like you're going for a soft fabric feel. You delved into the broader sweep of these formations, and the softness of the image---mixed with distinct detail---makes it feel very un-digital. (Only film gets these qualities, unless the artist works on it.) A big broad sweep of a shot, w/ beautiful shadow and light; and you let the peaks fade into the light both at the top and even in the lower layers. The kind of shot you'd see in artistic shots of the 50s and 60s. Beautiful work.
