Description
Follow a trail of 36 Knight sculptures throughout Lincoln to mark 800 years since the Battle of Lincoln and the sealing of the Charter of the Forest.
The sculpture trail consists of 36 knights which represent the two main figures of the 1217 Battle of Lincoln - Nicola de la Haye (Custodian of Lincoln Castle) and William Marshall (Regent to the young King Henry III). Also look out for designs to represent the Charter of the Forest.
Each sculpture has been sponsored by a local business and painted by a talented artist, with a hidden symbol on each. Find each symbol and complete the quest to receive a certificate and badge, plus discount off an exclusive Battle of Lincoln children's book.
To see the locations of the knights, see the Lincoln Knights' Trail website.
After the trail, the sculptures will be sold at auction in Lincoln Cathedral to raise money for The Nomad Trust. This local charity which serves the homeless community of Lincoln and provides emergency accommodation for those who would otherwise be sleeping on the streets.
I did find a few of the Knight on my trip to Lincoln yesterday. Will post the others.
Found the above information on the visit Lincoln site. hadn't a clue what to put it under!!!
Thanks for all the lovely comments & favs, so, so appreciated. x

This is absolutely neat! A piece of history I knew nothing about. I am looking forward to seeing the other sculptures. Did you get a shot of the hidden message on this one?
Delightful capture and a bit of history that I didn't know about.
Interesting shots and some real cool info Barb thanx for the share my friend!!!
Wonderful...combination of art and history. We've had things like this here too...porpoises at the beach, cows elsewhere, etc. Great way to get attention to a worthy charity.
That is cool, great captures!
lovely
A bit of fun! I like it. I seem to remember a similar idea using cows in San Anton and when we arrived back in Baltimore, there were crabs all over the bleeping place with similar "locale" paint schemes. Glad to see cities have a controlled-yet-whimsical side to their management.
