I bought something like that in redwood country billed as "burl" in the early 50's and it almost grew from a sprout it sent up.

tallpindo tells personal stories in your gallery! Your tree-tumor-and-growth series have been eye opening. We don't have as many such trees as you, I assume, because of our cold weather 3/4 of the year. But even where we do have them, I tend not to notice because of so much visual "clutter" in our downtown sector. This shot has big bulbous 'bubbling' forms, and your light gives it a golden touch---this must be either morning or late afternoon---and your composition catches it "in the act," because you cropped/shot it by cutting it off horizontally, not vertically, thus going the opposite direction of the tree. That makes the bulge stand out all the more. Fine work on this lava-like growth. All your tree aberration-shots are visceral and sensual.
