it looks so beautiful and contrastful in the sunshine! they are blooming here too and we say "Brennessel" 😃
We call this in Danish Døvenælde (Doevenaelde) This one doesn´t burn. But the one that is burning, we call Brændenælde (braendenaelde)= burning-nettle.
Beautiful - needs to be seen at full size to really appreciate the hairy texture...
Dead nettle ! (I love the idea of a Deaf one....) I have a cultivated sort in my garden, I will take a photo to show you.
HEHE! OOPS! The translater did actually go too correct in its translation. Because we do call it a "deaf" nettle, for some wierd reason I cant explain, but you obviouly call a "dead nettle", which is a just as wierd name for this gentle little nettle :) I would sure love to see your cultivated dead nettle, Andrea. Looking forward to that :)
AND here is a correction. We call it DØVNÆLDE, not DØVENÆLDE... my mistake :-P And this time it was translated to the latin name Lamium album or White nettle, but as you see, mine is purple :)
Beautiful and clear shot. It was a longtime ago, I posted a yellow one here on Renderosity.
Beautiful composition. excellent work
I've always heard "dead nettle" as well, and I think it's because it doesn't sting you. Therefore, it must be dead. !!! Such funny names! I'm with Andrea ... I love "deaf nettle!" :)
pretty wonderful flora and flower picture!
Wonderful, sharp and detailed photo! If a plant can be cute, this is the one! LOL
well, there's a rock band called "Death Metal," so things are gettin' REAL complicated... (I read all the back-and-forth about the name, and now I"m totally confused.) The closeup, as Claude says, really brings home the intense hairs of this plant. Your shot puts the big conglomerate of center-petals right in the center (top-center) and the rest spills out from there. And the background, though bokeh'd, 'shoots out' from the center like rays. Beautiful piece, Helle. Full size is eye popping.
Helle, I'm at almost 60 minutes, and I need to get to some other galleries (people I don't comment on privately, and haven't commented on in months). So I have to move on, unfortunately. I'll come back soon, to fill in the gaps of what I haven't commented on. But it's a pleasure as always (and you'll get a letter from me soon, I promise). I hope your eyes get better, or at least that the bad one stops 'jumping in'. It should let your good eye have all the help it can get. I hope you're well over all, and I wish you a great weekend---and thank you so much for reading my stuff: I have to assume it's not easy, with your eyes; and you've read a few of my pieces since returning, and I'm very grateful both for that as well as for the wonderful things you say. You keep me writing, Helle, and I'm very grateful for that!
