The snowplows, Walter and Duplex trucks with v plows and angle blades under the frames and huge (to me as a boy) Austin-Western four wheel drive arched graders with double jib wings to one side hid the mechanics benches where I hid out from the bullies each day on my way home from school. Nothing like a huge ball from a wheel bearing or the raced in steel to give a sense of weight to someone.
