Excellent - I love the monochrome graininess & rich textures. I have to admit that I've never heard of takins (when I saw the title, I was thinking takin' (like takin' it easy)). Looks like a formidable creature...

Crop is probably more than half the battle. My question is always, "What do I want you to see?" Then I take out everything that isn't that thing. Sometimes I have to put stuff back. LOL! So I get it, about cropping and re-cropping to see what's there. I'm more apt to wish I'd taken a tighter shot than to regret having not shot the whole thing. This is a great balance between the beast and its surroundings, as well as the contrast in textures between rock and fur. And I love the mono choice. This is great!

I've never seen this animal before. he is handsome but he also seems a bit sad, I suppose its the tilt of his head. nice shot, I'm glad I have a new animal to marvel over.

What a gorgeous creature!! I thought "water buffalo" at first, had no idea about a takin. They are BIG; now I have to find out just what they are and where they come from!!
