Description
The body of the 1937 BMW 328 Mille Miglia roadster 'Buegelfalte' was made from lightweight aluminium-magesium alloy over a tubular frame. The prototype fenders had a pronounced ridge along their top which resembled the crease in a pair of ironed trousers and gave it the name 'Buegelfalte'.
According to BMW the roadster was extremely influencing for the whole history of car design. Many cars of other brands used this technique to really bring emotion and also this sense of function together.
In 2010 in Monaco a 1937 BMW Mille Miglia 'Buegelfalte' sold at auction for $5.7 million.
