Captured on film way back in October 1989. Appears some fog was settling in at this juncture.
The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate strait, the one-mile-wide (1.6 km), three-mile-long (4.8 km) channel between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The structure links the American city of San Francisco, California – the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula – to Marin County, carrying both U.S. Route 101 and California State Route 1 across the strait. The bridge is one of the most internationally recognized symbols of San Francisco, California, and the United States. It has been declared one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
The Frommer's travel guide describes the Golden Gate Bridge as "possibly the most beautiful, certainly the most photographed, bridge in the world." It opened in 1937 and was, until 1964, the longest suspension bridge main span in the world, at 4,200 feet (1,300 m).

I'm only doing one image in each gallery right now, to wish a happy new year, so forgive that I chose this rather than that beautiful woodie you posted w/ your new year wish. I just had to do another of your g.gate shots, as I love them...A longer view than the others, and it has a pinkish-purple tint, like an old beautiful tinted postcard; and the view is beautiful, Harry. The slope is accented by the two high towers of the bridge; and the fog eats them up; and the distant mounds are just present enough to give a 'punctuation mark' to the shot. Wonderful perspective, movement and sweep. And you framed it in a holiday hue, for contrast. Happy New Year to you, and I hope 2017 brings a lot better to you than 2016 did. I saw, in Helle's gallery, that you actually have cool temps: I hope they remain for a while...you deserve some break. A much better 2017 to you, Harry, and great inspiration too.
