Description

It's been a long time since I've tried doing a magazine cover, so I thought I'd inflict this one on you..... I was going to try and finish this last night, but I wanted to do the tribute to Carrie Fisher first. Anyway, here ya go.... Two things inspired this.... First, I found a few old (last year) issues of Shape Magazine in a trash can next to a printer I was working on last week. The covers were great (and magazines like this make excellent reference material for drawings, poses, and so on..), so I grabbed them. Second, I saw this outrageous and delightful figure in an email from RE (if you don't know that's RenderE........). She's called "FUNtasy for G3F" and I just HAD to get her! She's morphs only, so I used the textures from one of the other G3F figures - don't remember which one, now... I really need to keep notes... I added her tattoo in Photoshop. I called her 'Brodie' mainly because that's the first thing that popped into what's left of my mind. Anyway, I thought she'd be perfect for a "Shape" cover, so here she is! The background is a photo I took a couple years ago at Powell Gardens near Kansas City. I had hoped to put together another T.N.A. Calendar for 2017, but it's been so chaotic lately I haven't even started one. I may get one done a bit later. But I do have another fun T.N.A. related project well underway that I'll be releasing in the next couple of months. Stay tuned, I think you'll like it! I hope you all have a great last weekend of 2016, and be sure to stay safe! As Steve said, DON'T drink and drive! :-D Thanks for dropping by and for all your wonderful comments and support! It means the world to me!

I think she got her shape from some potion number 9! I like the way she moves those curves too! The covers are fun--you and Steve should start a Elf Girl Monthly or something :D

Man what a professional job on this, Rod. Looks like a photo of one in print. Great inside stories. At my age not sure who's best on top with my back. Glad you got around to designing another cover. I've been thinking about adding twitter on my mag cover, just not sure what that camera one is. Happy New Year.

LOL...I love these, I need to do one and put Kharsha on it or something.

With my back in the shape it's in, I'd be afraid she chiropract me. And that IS a very well designed cover! I agree with lwperkins, you and Steve need to start doing Elf Girls Monthly or something like that.

Awesome looking cover but I'm with Zlata on the aerodynamics and donnena on the back aches!

Lol I saw a picture of Carrie today on FB that said "When I die I want it reported that I died drowning in moonlight and strangled by my own bra." Right on Carrie - RIP!

Well, Rod. Looks like you have an alternative to the job you have - doing fantastic magazine covers. I wonder if there's a professional organization for such work? May be a good way to wind down before retirement. This is so good that if I didn't know it was you, I'd have taken it for a real magazine cover. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to the next post! :-)

PS - glad 2016 is soon past - so many catastrophes and terrorism! Heating went out at work the day before yesterday. Heating company got it working yesterday. Then, yesterday evening, the school ghost made knocking sounds in the kitchen stairway, then 5 heavy steps in the closed attic over the stairway. Spooked the artist renting a room on the 2nd floor. Unnerving, unpleasant. Does this cont as terrorism? And Halloween is long past! Hoping for a better 2017!

Beautiful work. There is so much work goes into this style. The wide variety of fonts alone is amazing. The placement of text on the page and the character and choice of background layer are perfect. Well done on all levels.

Re the technical nature of this model, I know so pitifully little of how it's done, I wouldn't understand it if I tried. But you used her perfectly in this cover---really apparent in full size. I know just what you and Steve feel, in doing magazine covers: They offer such fun in design, overlap, and the many little 'worlds' you can create in the headlines, etc. It's a real art! I never designed a mag cover, but I did layouts which were similar, and it's a real treat making all the pieces work together. With the usual grabbing headlines, and the bar codes, scan codes, all of it. (I'm dying to see, on a mag cover, a headline that says, "Now get F___d!!!", just to see if people are paying attention...) Also, you move from darker upper half to very bright lower half. Fine job, Rod. I don't know if these take lots of time, but they show design all the way. Delightful. (I gotta try this, one of these days...)

Mighty fine Brodie, She looks like she's about 6 feet tall.

I hope she got her body the old fashioned way, and not through say, *ahem* MorphOn...

I think she got hold of Rene's 'dialer' device...... LOL
