Description
Liberty Island, folks. We've all seen umpteen bazillion images of Lady Liberty, so The Weese show you something diffrunt.
We'd just disembarked from what had to be the second tour boat and popped into the snack bar to get coffee and some nosh. Glorious day, sun just sparkling off the water as the Staten Island Ferry chugged back and forth and suddenly....
About two tables away a herd of seagulls descended upon some unfortunate family and chased them away from their food! At this point I could see Mrs. W was having doubts about encouraging some boids to come a bit closer to us. NO amount of shouting, hand waving, etc. could deter these winged sky rats from that plate of fries and other visitors just gave the whole area wide berth.
So, when the sign says DON'T FEED THE CRITTERS. They aren't being mean; the critters are experienced thugs and don't need encouragement.
Nice walk about the island, had to take the usual touristy shots so that Mrs. W could text them back to her co-workers. The interior statue tours were all sold out, so after doing a circuit and taking gratuitous scenic shots, we re-embarked and headed for Ellis Island. Even without the interior tour, the island walk was nice. Crowd was decent but not intrusive and the skyline views were worth the hike.
Enjoy; thanks for viewing.
