Today is 'Take a Hike ' Day!
The only shoes I think worth paying more for are like this. These 'Approach' shoes on the right are in their third season and on the third pair of laces, but otherwise intact. I walk at least 14 miles a week and garden in them too, therefore they have done at the very least 15,000 miles.
I used to have a huge collection of all sorts of less practical footwear, but gone are the days of 6" heels, they look silly on the beach or in the park!

if the shoe fits - wear it! I'm like you in that I get only those shoes or boots that will stand up to the demands of work and play.
