Countless humans like us around the world (and animals, too), indeed probably even in our very neighborhood, have to endure all forms of physical and emotional hardship — hunger, thirst, disease, natural disasters, war, exploitation by other humans, and so on. We really don’t know if one day Lady Luck might compel us to partake of the same bitter brew. Not even young children are spared this cruel possibility.
Why must there be suffering? What purpose can it serve?...
